Two persons were arrested in a case relating to murder of D. Kumar (38), a farmer at Jallipatti village in Periyakulam block here on Thursday.
The arrested were Mokkai Veeran and Chella Pandi of the same village.
The police said that Kumar's grand father Veerana Thevar had two wives and Kumar's father Devaraj was first wife’s son. Devaraj had dispute over ancestral property with Veerana Thevar's second wife's children Mokkai Veeran, Senthil Kannan and Panchavarnam. A property dispute case was pending in court.
In a complaint, Karnan, relative of Kumar, stated that Mokkai Veeran, Senthi Kannan, his son Palpandi and Chellapandi, husband of Panchavarnam attacked Kumar while he was sleeping in a Chavadi at the village on November 11 and threatened Karnan when he tried to prevent them as the property dispute case was settled in favour of Kumar recently.
The police have registered a case against four persons and are in search of two more accused.
