Srinagar , 12 Nov 2015

Reacting to frequent undeclared curfews and restrictions on the movement of people in Kashmir, particularly Shehar-e-Khas area of Srinagar, Hurriyat (M) Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Thursday said that delebrations would be held to formulate a joint action plan and devise a joint strategy.  on November 18, 2015 (Wednesday) against excessive use of force by authorities on the people.Addressing a news conference at his Nigeen residence, the Mirwaiz said the government by placing restrictions on the movement of people in Kashmir in general and Srinagar’s old city in particular on routine basis in particular, was a worst example of politics of revenge and vendetta, and autocracy. He said for devising a joint strategy to counter the government’s crackdown on the people especailly of Shehar-e-Khas, the conglomerate is organizing a meeting on November 18, 2015, Wednesday at10:30 am at the Mirwaiz Manzil in Rajouri Kadal which would be attended by various representatives of resistance groups of Jammu Kashmir, Imams, Ulemas, trade bodies, lawyers, scholars, students association representatives, transporters, and respected citizens.

Hurriyat (M) Chairman said he had invited the representatives from different sections of the society appealed them and the people in general to devise alternate ways of protesting against the government when it places such curbs and restrictions on their movement and asked them to reach out to the resistance leadership through social media. The Mirwaiz, who has been placed under house arrest for the past 10 days, said the authorities were using excessive force to cow down the people of Kashmir.Condemned the policy of the so-called government for using excessive force and trying to muzzle the voice of the people, he said the authorities had practically converted Jammu Kashmir into “Police State” and left people at the mercy of the Indian forces.

Hurriyat (M) Chairman said the curbs imposed on the movement of the resistance leadership and the people too, particularly in the jurisdiction of the seven police stations of Shehar-e-Khas, on every other issue were condemnable.

Paying tributes to the people of Kashmir for following the programmes of the resistance leaderships and thanking them for it, he said the amalgam was aware of the hardships they face under a well planned conspiracy hatched by Government of India and the so-called government against the people of Kashmir who are pursuing the resistance movement.Mirwaiz said in reality they were being punished for being pro-resistance and for fighting for their right to self-determination.He said peoples’ movement is restricted with the massive presence of Indian forces on a routine basis due to which people are not even able to get essential commodities and everyday goods while their businesses too are made to suffer, resulting in their economic deprivation.

Hurriyat (M) Chairman said this was being done to keep them economically deprived and dependent so that they lose focus from the resistance movement. He said the so-called state government instead of solving the problems of the people had itself become a big problem for the people of Kashmir.Hurriyat (M) Chairman said this was an era of dictatorship and blamed the so-called government on the one had raises slogans of Jhamooriyat (Democracy), Kashmiriyat (Kashmiri ethos), and Insaniyat (Humanity) and announcing economically package for making people happy and on the other hand, it gives Indian forces a free hand to hold people at gun point.

He said Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) and other black laws were being used to cow down the people and suppress them in such a way that they are not even allowed to participate in the funeral prayers and express sympathy with their loved ones who are killed by the Indian forces.Terming it as state-sponsored terrorism, the Mirwaiz said the oppression and suppression was at an all time high in Jammu Kashmir and this government in the state had assumed powers to push Hindutva agenda. He said whenever people raise voice, they are dealt with pellets, pepper gas and tear gas canister, which release deadly chemicals and become dangerous for the health of the people particularly the aged and children. The Mirwaiz said curbing the religious, political and social activities of the resistance leaders was a state policy now and human rights violations were at an all-time high.

He said an organised mafia was working under the very nose of the police that first arrest children and youth and then demand ransom money from their parents, which proves no such thing as a government exists in Jammu Kashmir.Hurriyat (M) Chairman said Gowhar Nazir Dar’s killing was not an aberration but a routine, which drives home a point that in Kashmir lakhs of Indian forces are not fighting to curb militancy but to suppress the voice of the people. He said since the day PDP and BJP government assumed power in Jammu Kashmir, it seemed that a war had been waged against the Kashmiris at the government level.Mirwaiz said the house arrests of the resistance leadership, arrests of youth and aggression on unarmed civilians youth, use of pepper gas, tear smoke canisters and target killings was a matter of concern for the resistance leadership and promised that the resistance leadership would not sit silently over it.

He said the pro-India parties that were not in government but in the opposition too had the same anti-Kashmir policy when they themselves were in power.

Hurriyat (M) Chairman said Kashmir was not a law and order or a border issue and not even an economic issue but a human and a political problem, which can only be resolved through apolitical solution. He said it was unfortunate that the Government of India’s leadership was negative and aggressive and did not want to see Kashmir through its history context.Mirwaiz said Narendra Modi led-government was suffering from the arrogance of power on Kashmir issue and instead of approaching the issue through dialogue was trying to push the issue under the carpet by using its military might and oppressive and suppressive tactics. He said all these things would be discussed threadbare during the Wednesday (November 18, 2015) meeting a joint strategy would be devised.
