The maiden Justice V.R. Krishna Iyer Memorial Award 2015 will be conferred posthumously on lawyer S. Neelakanta Sharma for his contribution to society and for turning role model to others by donating his organs.
The award, instituted by The Law (The Legal Assistance and Welfare Trust), carries a purse of Rs.25,000 and a statuette.
The jury was headed by NUALS former vice-chancellor N. K. Jayakumar, Kerala Bar Council Chairman Joseph John, and senior lawyer Shahid Ahmed.
The award will be presented to the family of late Neelakanta Sharma at a function to be held here on November 26 on the occasion of National Law Day, according to Trust Chairman P. Santosh Kumar.
