7-year-old city girl makes it to int’l karate championship

THANE: City girl Pari Thakkar (7) has been selected for the international Karate Championship that will be held at Kajan in Malaysia between November 21 to 22. The event has been organised by World Funakoshi Shotokan Karate Organisation.
Pari is the youngest karatekas from the city to be part of the event. The Std II student of St John the Baptist high school impressed the selectors and won her ticket for the international event.
“She happens to be the youngest girl karateka who has been nominated for the international meet, representing the country. We are proud of her achievement,’’ said her father Chetan. Pari started her training last year under the coach Farz Shaikh.
