CUDDALORE: Eight people were washed away by flash floods in three different incidents following incessant rain in Cuddalore district in the last 24 hours.
Police said Selvi and her four sons, all aged below 15 years, were inside their hut on the bank of a water body. A flash flood triggered by heavy rains washed away the woman and her four sons. Meanwhile, police and fire service personnel have launched efforts to recover the bodies.

In another incident at Veesur near Panruti, a 35-year-old woman and her teenage daughter were washed away by flash floods. Police said Vasuki and her daughter Kausalya, 17, were inside the house located on the bank of Gedilam River, when flash floods washed them away. Fire and rescue services personnel managed to recover the body of Vasuki with the help of local villagers and launched a hunt for the body of the teenage girl.
A 24-year-old man was washed away at Kadampuliyur when he allegedly attempted to take pictures of flash floods. The deceased was identified as Ashok Kumar, 24, from Kadampuliyur.
