The Crime Investigation Agency (CIA), Mohali, on Monday arrested six persons for allegedly robbing a Zirakpur shopkeeper of six expensive mobile phones and Rs 19,000 at gun point on November 9 night.

MOHALI: The Crime Investigation Agency (CIA), Mohali, on Monday arrested six persons for allegedly robbing a Zirakpur shopkeeper of six expensive mobile phones and Rs 19,000 at gun point on November 9 night. They had also fired at the cops, who tried to apprehend them.
The accused have been identified as Dev Kumar, Talwinder Singh, Amrinder Singh, Jasvir Singh, Rohit Kumar and Pardeep Kumar, all residents of surrounding areas of Mohali.

SSP Gurpreet Singh said that the accused on November 9 had gone to victim Rakesh Kumar's shop in Zirakpur. Before he could ask the accused anything, Dev Kumar pulled out a gun and pointed at the shopkeeper. The accused then took away mobile phones, his wallet and Rs 19,000 from a drawer of the shop.
After committing the crime the accused fled away on separate two-wheelers, which were also stolen.
On receiving the information about the robbery, the CIA installed check posts at various locations at Zirakpur and surrounding areas.
When the accused saw the check post, they fired at the cops and tried to flee. However, two accused were caught on the spot. Later, the other four accused halted at a roadside dhabha on Patiala highway. On a tip off, the CIA raided the dhabha and arrested the other accused. Besides the robbed items, two .32 bore pistols, which were used to fire at the cops, were also recovered from them.
They have been booked under various sections of the IPC and the Arms Act.
