Hardik’s lawyer alleges threat from BJP men

He said that about half a dozen cars without number plates remained parked near his house which he said were of “intelligence sleuths shadowing him”.

Advocate B M Mangukia, chairman of the Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) legal cell, alleged that he had been threatened by BJP men for defending Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti leader Hardik Patel and others, who were spearheading the agitation seeking OBC status for the state’s Patel community. He also claimed that he had got “feelers to join BJP from the highest level in the party”.

Mangukia, who is a practicing lawyer in the Gujarat High Court, said this at a press meet flanked by GPCC chief Bharatsinh Solanki. He, however, refused to name who in the BJP had threatened him and added that the “threat perception still exists”. Mangukia recently submitted his resignation from the Congress, though there was no clarity on whether it was accepted.
