Bihar polls: CPI-ML wins 3 seats; BSP, SP and MIM poll 2% or less

Of the seven seats that did not go to either major alliance in Bihar, the CPI(ML) won three. In contrast, the Samajwadi Party, the BSP, the NCP and the AIMIM drew a blank, not one of them getting more than two per cent of the vote share.

Some 2.5 per cent of the voters hit the ‘none of the above’ button, placed as the last option on the EVM. The NOTA tally is for entire Bihar while the other parties contested a varying number of seats, with the BSP having contested in all 243.

The CPI(ML) won Balrampur, Darauli and Tarari, with an NDA rival coming closest in all three seats. M Ali won Balrampur by over 20,000 votes against his BJP rival, Satyadeo Ram defeated a BJP rival by nearly 10,000 votes, while Sudama Prasad edged his LJP rival in Tarari by 272 votes.

Of other parties, the BSP managed two per cent of the total votes polled. The SP contested 85 seats and polled one per cent.

The NCP contested 40 seats and polled 0.5 per cent. The MIM, which contested six seats mainly in the Muslim-dominated Seemanchal region, managed 0.2 per cent.
