Japanese pianist Toshiki Usui regales Amdavadis

Pianist from Japan, Toshiki Usui, on Friday performed at the Ahmedabad management Association (AMA) in a concert organised by the Indo-Japan Friendship Association. Usui (38), who has been playing piano since he was four years old, said his source of inspiration was his mother who used to play Japanese classical music. He said the music can strengthen cultural ties between the two countries.

AHMEDABAD: Pianist from Japan, Toshiki Usui, on Friday performed at the Ahmedabad management Association (AMA) in a concert organised by the Indo-Japan Friendship Association. Usui (38), who has been playing piano since he was four years old, said his source of inspiration was his mother who used to play Japanese classical music. He said the music can strengthen cultural ties between the two countries.

Usui said he had created a Japanese and a Western composition especially for the Amdavadi audience. On a query about the politics overshadowing art and music as some singers are not allowed to perform due to enmity between two countries, Usui said, “music sees no border.“Usui, winner of Cantu and Viottie International Competitions held in Italy , has so far performed in three concerts in Ahmedabad and se ven across the country . He said he wishes to teach piano to children of India.
Mukesh Patel, president of the `Indo-Japan Friendship Association', believed that the relationship between the two countries that strengthened with business exchanges in Vibrant Gujarat summit will become stronger with such cultural exchanges.
