Students suspended on ragging charges

Two students, who were allegedly involved in ragging of mountaineer, S. Anand Kumar, in Nizam College were suspended from the college for 15 days after an enquiry.

The enquiry committee constituted by the college held discussions with the accused and the victim apart from various groups in the college and recommended suspension of the accused for 15 days. The Swaroes team, which took up the issue with the college expressed its happiness at the decision and said it would send a strong signal to people indulging in ragging. Anand Kumar, a first year student, was apparently ragged by his seniors. Though he did not lodge any written complaint, the college conducted an enquiry constituting a team of senior teachers. The accused are said to have claimed that their intention was not to rag.
