Display of price at retail shops made mandatory

November 07, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:46 am IST - CHITTOOR:

District Supply Officer (DSO) G. Nageswara Rao on Friday said that strict measures had been taken to ensure that red gram was sold at a subsidised price of Rs. 140 a kg in the retail market across the district, cautioning the traders to mandatorily exhibit the price on display boards at their shops.

Further, the staple dal would be sold at Rs. 90 per kg to all white ration card holders and steps would be taken to have holograms on all the 5,99,920 white ration cards in the district to prevent fake beneficiaries from availing of the scheme.

The Vigilance officials have raided various godowns in the recent weeks and seized pulses that were stored illegally valued at Rs. 73 lakh, the DSO told the media at the Collectorate here on Friday. In view of Deepavali festival, additional half a kg sugar would be given to ration card holders through fair price shops, he said.
