It’s the mobile phone call data record (CDR) of suspended policeman, B. Mohan Reddy, that’s going to speak about the possible involvement of other police officers in the financial deals involving exchange of crores of rupees.
The Karimangar Two Town police seized a mobile phone and 60 documents of different properties in the name of a person called Mallesham when they nabbed Mr. Reddy six days ago. A case of abetment to suicide was registered against him after a private school owner, B. Prasada Rao, ended his life mentioning his name in his ‘suicide note’. What was thought to be an isolated case of driving a person to suicide over financial deals eventually turned out to be a racket of taking over the properties of others by offering loans at high interest rates. Soon after the ASI’s arrest, skeletons started tumbling out of the cupboards as many knocked on the doors of district SP complaining that they too were victimised by Mr. Reddy’s organised financial racket. Many believed that Mr. Reddy, who joined the Police Department as a constable and became ASI, had the backing of some police officers to carry out his ‘operations’ for years together. Inquiries conducted by the SP, D. Joel Davis, indicated that some police officers were hand in glove with Mr. Reddy.
