More than 800 voters in Pala municipality did not vote on Thursday. Their representative, Biji Jojo of Kerala Congress (M), was elected unopposed from Ward 20 when the scrutiny of candidates was held in the initial phase of the election process.
The LDF had fielded Swathy Sasi as their candidate and the nomination was filed on the last day, October 14. But they could not submit the deposit. Her nomination was rejected the next day. Since BJP-SNDP and others did not field any candidate, Ms. Jojo was elected unopposed.
