Electrician electrocuted

November 06, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:33 am IST - New Delhi:

A 40-year-old electrician was electrocuted while repairing a power line on an electricity pole in Outer Delhi’s Sultanpuri on Thursday.

Police said they were in the process of registering a case of causing death by negligence even though they were yet to probe who was at fault.

The electrician, identified as Mahender, was employed with Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited, which supplies power in the area. He had climbed up an electric pole when he was electrocuted. Vikramjit Singh, DCP (Outer), said the victim was killed on the spot.

His body was subsequently sent to a nearby hospital for post-mortem. An official with the discom said they too have initiated a probe into the case.

“It appears the victim came in touch with a high-tension cable. Whether he was killed because of his own negligence or someone else’s carelessness would be known only later,” said the official.

He claimed that there was no negligence in terms of providing safety gears to the victim.
