A video, made by an artist to make people aware of water pollution and its consequences caused by discharge from Uttam Galwa group of companies, has gone viral on social media.

WARDHA: A video, made by an artist to make people aware of water pollution and its consequences caused by discharge from Uttam Galwa group of companies, has gone viral on social media.
Sachin Ghode, a voice-over artist, as part of his social connect initiative, has made a short documentary in which he tried to show the reality the polluted water from Galwa group of companies was causing in some villages.

The polluted water flows from groundwater to wells and borewells in an area of 30 to 40km of the down side of the companies and has affected over 50,000 people in 40 villages. In his documentary, Ghode showed how the people were constantly demanding potable water from district administration and company authorities. But their voices are not reaching the authorities.
President of Uttam Galwa group of companies RK Sharma denied the charges, saying that water does not flow outside the factory.
Ghode, actively involved in social issues, used his talent and made a documentary which shows the apathy of the company and government, and the plight of villagers. He said, “In Barbadi village, water in all the wells was not worth drinking even for animals. But thousands of people were drinking it and facing various diseases.”
According to documents with TOI, samples of 19 wells in Barbadi were taken. The report on chemical examination of water for drinking purpose dated September 1 said water of all the 19 wells was unfit for drinking. The report was issued by sub-divisional laboratory, Pulgaon. Madhukar Kelvatkar, member of gram panchayat, Barbadi, said, “We have sent hundreds of letters to the district collector, company management, chief minister and union minister Nitin Gadkari, but nobody found time to listen to us.”
