    The annual Rann of Kutch Festival will take place from November 18 to February 23, 2016. Rann Utsav is a festival of music, dance and folklore. This utsav or fair showcases traditional art forms of India. The fair celebrates the diversity and uniqueness of the Kutch district and highlights the cultural splendour of the state of Gujarat.

    Held annually during the full moon time in winters, the Rann Kutch Utsav features Kutch that is widely different with finely diffused spectrum of Indian traditional art forms. The Utsav includes cultural and folk dances, music, craftsmanship, carnival processions, pageantry and an encapsulation of the true spirit and zeal of Kutch inhabitants.

    Enjoying the shades of full moon with folk music and dance forms in chilling winters is an enchanting experience.

    It is a festival visited by people from around the world as they wish to soak in the true flavours of this beautiful arid region. There are also tour agencies that arrange for living in tents, long and fun hours at the bonfires and take you to explore the lives lead by artisans. Dance with the local folk dancers and enjoy going for camel safaris. The beautiful traditional and ethnic stuff displayed by local artists and NGOs is worth buying.

    Post the festivities: After attending the Rann Utsav try and visit museum and royal cenotaphs of Bhuj, the beaches and palaces of Mandvi, the holy lake of Narayan Sarovar and the craft villages of Banni. You can also visit the city of Ahmedabad, the city of architectural delights.

    Wildlife: The Little Rann of Kutch, one of the largest wetlands of the world becomes a haven for the migratory birds. A safari through the Wild Ass sanctuary in the Little Rann of Kutch in the North West Gujarat gives a unique experience to the visitor. Head to the Kutch Desert Wildlife Sanctuary to spot flamingos, the great bustard deer, Pelicans, Spoon bill, Ducks, Harrier, Vulture, Eagle and more. During the winter about 300 species of birds are spotted in this region.
