BJP MP Tarun Vijay felicitated for his contribution to Thirukkural

133 students, selected for reciting Thirukkural through a competition held at Madurai on November 1, will be taken to Indian Parliament to be felicitated by HRD minister Smriti Irani.

COLOMBO/NEW DELHI: BJP MP Tarun Vijay was given the Tamizh Sahithya Vizha Virudhu (award) for his contribution to Thirukkural by Sri Lanka's environment and agriculture minister Thiru M Rameshwaran at a glittering ceremony in Kandy near Colombo on Tuesday evening.
"Hailing from north India, from the Himalayas, and working relentlessly for the cause of Tamil and Thirukkural is an amazing great story of our times," Rameshwaran said in praise of Tarun Vijay's contribution to Thirukkural.

Responding to the honour, Tarun Vijay said he felt humbled by the award. The BJP MP exhorted the youth to follow the path shown by Thirukkural.
"Lord Buddha and Thiruvalluvar are the two greatest icons who gave message of peace and brotherhood and forged friendship between the two nations," the BJP MP said.
He also announced that 133 students, selected for reciting Thirukkural through a competition held at Madurai on November 1, will be taken to Indian Parliament to be felicitated by HRD minister Smriti Irani.
"First time Parliament will reverberate with Thirukkural making it more sacred and meaningful." he said.
Earlier on Monday evening, Tarun Vijay was felicitated by the students of Colombo University for spreading the message of Thiruvalluvar.

Tarun Vijay also said that the felicitation had strengthened his commitment to Thirukkural even more.
"Thiruvalluvar inspires us all to seek justice and equality and Thirukkural gives stregth to the Tamils and humanity world over," Tarun Vijay said.
Tarun Vijay praised the students present at the function for showing exemplary devotion for the language and culture by remembering Thiruvalluvar. That's the only way to forge unity and establish justice and equality.
The BJP MP said that he felt the pain of the arrested fishermen from Tamil Nadu and hoped that the Sri Lankan government will soon ensure their release.
