The 11th edition of Blenders Pride Fashion Tour 2015 in association with The Leela Palace had its second stop in Bengaluru. The two evenings were a melange of design, music and technology. The first evening kickstarted with filmmaker Anurag Kashyap narrating his experiences which have stayed with him and influenced him to evolve as a filmmaker. Anurag said, “I have always believed that our strengths and personality evolves with all the great experiences we go through in our lives.
My experiences of street theatre, interest in international cinema, trying times in career… all of it has contributed to the way I speak, work and carry myself.”
The first evening saw designers Abraham & Thakore and Neeta Lulla showcase their collections. “Influenced by the well-being of the environment, our collection for Blenders Pride Fashion Tour articulates a vocabulary that is relevant to contemporary life in metropolitan India. The collection explores classic garment shapes and silhouettes which make for a timeless Indian wardrobe, presenting novel facets of style,” said the designer duo about their collection that gave an edgy makeover to Kantha work in the collection ‘The Sustainability Project’.
Neeta, on her collection said, “It depicts the tale of contemporary womanhood. It is as unique as a fingerprint to a person; it celebrates individuality, assertiveness of being you, something which is perfectly handcrafted to suit a certain personality, inspired by the androgynous style of today’s woman. The collection is a philosophy that states ‘U the semi-circle that completes the circle of life’.” Actress Yami Gautam walked for her as the showstopper.
The second day featured Masaba and Rohit Gandhi + Rahul Khanna. Talking about her collection, Masaba said, “As this tour is all about exploring new depths of style, I’m truly elated to showcase my collection which is an experiment with an off-beat color palette, marrying jest and ingenuity. It is designed to enrapture the fashion industry that’s set forth to leave the on-lookers spell bound.” Actress Jacqueline Fernandez walked the ramp as her showstopper.
On their collection ‘An Early Frost’, Rohit and Rahul said, “Our inspiration is the forbidding winters where extreme temperature makes life’s existence more edgy and fragile. There, the deep forests and intruding animal skins bring back the spectacular beauty of life.”
Curating music for the tour, Gaurav Raina strung together the beats to which these design stories were presented. Talent like Mame Khan, Karsh Kale and Apeksha Dandekar collaborated with him for the show over the two days.
