Couple, biker robbed on MIDC phase I road in span of 10 hours

A family and a youth was robbed of cash in a span of 10 hours in Dombivli. No arrests have been made so far.

On Monday around 1pm, Darshan Pralhad Gaikar, 23, a Dombivli resident who works in two-wheeler showroom, was heading to a private bank to deposit Rs4.27 lakh cash when near AIMS hospital a group of four people asked him to stop.

The quartet started thrashing Gaikar with leather belt and sharp weapons. The victim collapsed but the accused kept kicking him. They snatched the bag containing cash and fled.

In the second incident, a couple from Manpada was heading home around 12.05am (Wednesday) on their bike from MIDC phase-1 road, when a group of three people stopped their auto in front of them. The victim, Santosh Tukaram Ahirey, 30, is into DJing business.

When Ahirey stopped his bike, the trio got down from the auto and flashed a hammer. The7y threatened the victims to handover their jewellery or they will kill them. Scared, the couple handover their cash and jewellery.
An official said, “No arrests have been made. We suspect the same gang to be involved. We have increased patrolling in that area as post 7pm it becomes isolated.”
