JOHANNESBURG – His Majesty’s Correctional Services came back empty handed from the Melting Port Choral Music Festival after failing to impress the adjudicators.

The choir competed in the competition that had a grand prize of E650 000.
Led by Melisizwe Zwane, Correctional Services went on the stage three times, singing the African and the Western pieces.
It also competed under the Izitibili category.

Despite rendering a good performance, they did not match some of the choirs that were part of the competition, resulting to them not being able to make it.

The busiest day for the choir was on Sunday as they were the first to take the stage in front of over 3 000 choral music lovers.
After watching the good performance delivered by the Swazi choir, some of the fans thought they had a chance of winning at least in one song.

However, they were beaten by three choirs which were Voice of the Nation, the Gauteng Choristers and the African Chorus.
Voice of the Nation won the African piece and went home with a sum of E250 000, while winning the western piece was Gauteng Choristers who also took home a sum of E250 000.

Winning E150 000 was African Chorus who impressed on the Izitibili category.
Despite not winning, the local choir was praised for its good performance, especially on the African piece.
The adjudicators felt that Swaziland was one country that had a potential of producing good music.
