Criminal held; 77 sovereigns recovered

A notorious criminal, K. Muniyasami (32) of Natarajapuram, who stabbed his employer and robbed another person on Saturday evening, was arrested and 77 sovereigns of gold jewellery were recovered from him, Superintendent of Police Ashwin M. Kotnis said here on Sunday evening.

Police also seized a bloodstained knife from Muniyasami, who had been facing cases for attempting to murder a person, molesting his daughter, and harassing his wife demanding dowry. .

Muniyasami, who was working in a stone crushing unit, was sacked by the unit owner, P. Muthuraman (45) of George Road here, for stealing cement and hardware, Inspector of Police (Tuticorin North) S. Suresh Kumar said.

Angered by this, Muniyasami stabbed Muthuraman with a knife at Karuthapalam junction and fled the scene. The victim was admitted to a private hospital.

Then, Muniyasami brandished the bloodstained knife and robbed a realtor, V. Raja Manohar (60) of Nandagopalapuram, of 84 sovereigns of gold jewellery at his office.

On the complaints lodged by Muthuraman and Raja Manohar, a case was filed.
