MUMBAI: A
fire broke out in a cloth
godown at Universal
Mill Compound,
Golibar Road,
Ghatkopar west on Saturday, around 6.20 am. A
fireman was injured during the three-hour fire-fighting operation and had to be rushed to
Rajawadi Hospital. He is now in stable condition, said officials from the Mumbai fire brigade. The fire was widespread, with garments, cotton, old furniture, wooden doors, and windows in the mill compound going up in flames.
Fireman Bhagwat Haibatrao Nikam sustained a fracture on his right knee after a huge
column fell upon him. “He was rushed to Rajawadi Hospital, where doctors said he needed an operation. Since he lives in Ulhasnagar, we will be shifting him to a hospital in Kalyan,” said a senior fire official.
