Currently, Navsari Nagarpalika is with the BJP, which has 36 members while Congress has only six members. Earlier, the Nagarpalika was divided into 14 wards with 42 members and now it has been divided into 11 wards with 44 members in the upcoming elections.

Vashi said, “I’m a ground-level person and work for the betterment of the people. I have come to know that party will not give me ticket so I decided to resign. BJP MLA Piyush Desai wanted to put his own person from my ward. Many of the works in my ward is still pending and Nagarpalika president and BJP leaders are not paying interest on it. After I resigned, BJP leaders tried to contact me and even assured me about the ticket, but I remained firm on my own decision.”
Navsari district BJP General Secretary Bhurabhai Shah said, “We have found that he came to know that his ticket would be cancelled in the upcoming elections and for that he had left the party and joined Congress. We have got his substitute and there is nothing to worry.”
