In a shocking incident, a resident of Borivali has been visiting the Arnala Coastal police station to register a complaint against her colleague for allegedly eating her pet dog Roxie, a mixed breed Cocker Spaniel and Labrador (Spanador). The cops have, however, refused to register a complaint, saying, "Sirf kutta to mara hai, why create fuss about it"?

Nirmala D'souza (30) works as a senior advisor in Powai-based firm Radius VBPO Ltd and lives in Shimpoli village of Borivali (W). According to her, she had given her 10-month-old dog to a colleague, Sheetal Kushwah (38), a resident of Global city in Virar (W), in July this year.

D'souza's father had developed allergy due to the dog, and so she wanted Kushwah to take care of the pet for a few months till she figured out a solution to the problem. D'souza claimed that whenever she enquired about the dog, Kushwah used to say that it was doing fine.

"When I asked her to give Roxie back to me, she started giving vague answers. She also blocked me on several sites. I met her in office and again she repeated that the pet was fine. Two days ago, however, she revealed that an NGO took Roxie away as it was not keeping well," said D'souza.

"I visited her residence to find that the dog was missing. When I asked the society members, they said they never complained against the dog. When I confronted Kushwah again, she said it died and she dumped the corpse near the Arnala Beach. We took her to the spot but we did not find even a single bone. And now I suspect Kushwah ate Roxie. We wanted to register a complaint but the cops refused to do so, saying it was a minor matter," she added.

Kushwah, meanwhile, denied all allegations. She said, "The dog died. I folded it in a cloth and dumped the body in Arnala. I did not eat it. I could not bring myself to inform Nirmala about the death of her pet. I don't know where its body is as it was dark."

In charge of the Palghar police station, Pradeep Gite, said, "We have asked the lady to submit the complaint application. We will go through that before registering the complaint." Calls and messages to the senior police officials from the Palghar department went unanswered.

In January this year, Vakola police had arrested Santacruz residents Loloroni Imbune (27) and Mishankh Chinaupram (20) for allegedly killing and eating a neighbour's pet dogs.
