The Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council, K.S. Eshwarappa, has called his partymen to be prepared to face Assembly elections, saying that the Congress government will fall any time due to its internal squabblings.
In his inaugural address at the “Anthyodaya Samavesha” held in Tumakuru city on Thursday, Mr.Eshwarappa said that the Congress government will fall on its own due to internal bickerings and no external force is required for the purpose.
Speaking to reporters later, Mr. Eshwarappa alleged that the State unit of the Congress party is divided into Siddaramaiah faction, Kharge faction and Parameshwara faction and hence the Congress government is likely to collapse anytime. He said it is better that the Congress party resolve its internal problems instead of blaming the BJP.
He alleged that it was the Congressmen who defeated the president of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee, G. Parameshwara, in the last Assembly elections and they have to introspect about it.
Referring to the allegations made by Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah, against the BJP regarding a “Dalit CM”, Mr. Eshwarappa said that it is the “joke of the year”. The Congress can make anyone as its Chief Minister and it is up to the party to decide on who should hold the post. “Our party has nothing to do about it.”
