Starting today, Atosa, the boutique in Mumbai, plays host to a slew of Middle Eastern labels. We get Rujuta Vora, co-founder of this initiative, to give us an exclusive sneak-peek.

Tell us a little about the collaboration with Atosa? We first approached Atosa because we think it is the quintessential platform to showcase these very talented international designers. The sensibility of the store is eclectic and resonates with the collections. The collections will be on display starting October 29.

What led you to pick these labels? We wanted to approach celebrated designers who have a distinct identity. Essa, is a master of neoprene designs; Amira Haroon explores the Art Nouveau period with pieces incorporating metallic tweeds, bird motifs and vintage Asian gold lacquer box style chinoiserie; Hema Kaul's collection has a strong Japanese influence, using structured silhouettes; Anaya Collection's feminine silhouettes have a touch of vintage; Narsahsist is bringing a collection fusing with one-of-a-kind hand-painted pieces and Madiso's jewellery involves organic shapes on silk fabric.

What are your favourite pieces from the collections? Amira's gold lacquer coated organza dress, Anaya's crop top and wide pants, Essa's neoprene cocktail dress, Hema's wine lace top with the mint green skirt, Madiso's jewelled cuff and Narsahsist's sack dress to name a few.

Who are the designers you wish to bring over? We would like to bring a lot more designers who are making news all over the Middle East, like Said Mahrouf, Reema Ameer, Hussein Bazaza, All things Mochi and Rula Galayini.
