RABUPURA: A man killed his 24-year-old son and injured his wife when he shot at them over a property dispute. After killing his son, he threatened the neighbours and stayed there for nearly half an hour before fleeing from the spot, late on Monday night.
Police reached the spot one and a half hours late around midnight. On Tuesday the accused, Mangal Singh, called his family members and threatened them to not give testimony against him.
The incident took place around 10.30pm on Monday in Feldda village in Rabupura, Greater Noida.
Mangal Singh, a history sheeter, had married two women and was currently living with one of his wives, Rekha, his sons Ravi and Yogesh. Ravi also got married to a woman named Rekha. Mangal Singh's wife Rekha, Ravi's wife Rekha, Ravi and Yogesh were present at the time of firing.
Dhara Singh, a relative of the accused, told TOI Mangal Singh had been trying to sell his property but his wife Rekha (46) and Ravi resisted it. "On Monday night, the family members were having a heated argument when a drunk Mangal Singh entered the house around 10pm. He pulled out his pistol and fired six rounds. Yogesh and Ravi's wife excaped but Ravi and his mother Rekha suffered bullet injuries," Dhara Singh said.
He said Ravi had wanted to lead a respectable life and was working hard towards that goal but his criminal father was forcing him to enter the crime world and help him in committing robberies and extortion"Ravi suffered two bullet injuires - one on his left hand and the other on his chest - while a bullet hit his mother Rekha on her upper abdomen. Ravi died on the spot," Dhara Singh said. He said that despite being informed in time, police reached one and a half hours after the violence. Despite being informing promptly, police reached around midnight. The accused had stayed in and around his house for nearly half an hour," Dhara Singh added.
"An FIR has been lodged and a probe has been ordered into the allegation that police reached the spot late," GB Nagar SSP Kiran S said.
