KANGRA: Concrete roads were constructed in Kangra town recently at a cost of Rs 55 lakh and construction of a parking lot for vehicles at the mini secretariat was completed at a cost of Rs 7 lakh which would be dedicated to people before Diwali.

Concrete roads were constructed in Kangra town recently at a cost of Rs 55 lakh and construction of a parking lot for vehicles at the mini secretariat was completed at a cost of Rs 7 lakh which would be dedicated to people before Diwali.

Local MLA Pawan Kajal stated this while speaking at a function organised at the Mahrishi Valmiki temple on the occasion of the 105th Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti here today.

He asked the youth to follow in Maharishi Valmiki’s footsteps to shape their future career. He said the modern water supply scheme for this temple town costing Rs 18 crore was under progress and work on the overhead tanks and laying of the pipes for the scheme had been started on a war footing. Work on this project would be completed in one and a half years and people provided water supply round the clock.

He said the DPR was ready for the construction of the Bajjreshwari Sadan at the Tehsil Chowk in this town. At the Bajjreshwari Sadan street vendors would be accommodated. Besides parking, toilets and clock room facilities would be made available there.

He said a government degree college at Dhaulatpur and an ITI and a sub-employment exchange were opened in this constituency. The Civil Hospital, Kangra, was upgraded to the 75-bed hospital and additional staff was provided.

He announced a grant of Rs 4 lakh from his MLA fund for the development of the Maharishi Valmiki temple here. Valmiki Sabha president Raman Kumar thanked the MLA for his contribution towards the development of the temple.
