HYDERABAD: Police have registered a domestic harassment case against Tollywood ace director Srinu Vaitla for assaulting his wife.
On October 15, Srinu Vaitla's wife Santoshi Rupa had approached the Banjara Hills police alleging that her husband manhandled her after an altercation.
Rupa said that following the assault, she left their house at Journalist's Colony in Jubilee Hills and went to live with her parents at Yousufguda.
"Based on the complaint lodged by Rupa, we have registered a case against Srinu Vaitla under section 498-A (subjecting a married woman to cruelty) of the IPC," Inspector P Murali Krishna said.
However, on October 16, Rupa, through her advocate, gave a petition to the Banjara Hills police expressing her desire to stay with her husband and wishing to withdraw the complaint. "We will counsel the couple and decide about the future course of action," the inspector added.
Srinu Vaitla married costume designer Rupa her over a decade ago. The couple has three daughters.
