CFSI receives whopping 1200 entries for 19th International Children's Film Festival

The 19th International Children's Film Festival, India is to be held in Hyderabad from November 14-20 and for this CFSI has received record 1204 entries from 80 countries

The Children's Film Society of India (CFSI) has received an overwhelming response for the upcoming edition of the International Children's Film Festival, not only from Indian directors but also from children film lovers and epic producers across the globe.

The 19th International Children's Film Festival, India is to be held in Hyderabad from November 14-20 and for this CFSI has received record 1204 entries from 80 countries. While in the last two editions, it had received 894 entries from 75 countries and 748 entries from 87 countries respectively.

"We respect and cherish this kind of overwhelming response from filmmakers... This could be achieved by the continuous efforts that we took towards enhancing the international participation in the festival by exploring and contacting many embassies for their participation in the 19th edition of ICFFI," Dr Shravan Kumar, Festival Director, 19th International Children's Film Festival, India told PTI.

"Many of these embassies like Sweden, Egypt, Mexico, Republic of Armenia, Afghanistan and Switzerland responded to our request and submitted 45 film entries for the festival," added Kumar who has been reviewing the preparatory measures.

For the current edition, more than 200 films have been selected by the Selection Committee and they will be exhibited at the festival. Out of this, 124 film entries are from Indian filmmakers.

The films produced between August 2013 to July 2015 have been short-listed by the committee for the participation in Competition Section of the festival. The selection process concluded on September 24, 2015.

Child delegates across the country would also be participating in the festival which is going to be entertaining, informative, interactive and fun as well, said an official from CFSI adding that the competition would be in international, international short, Asian Panorama and little directors category.
