Nintendo’s very different approach to the new Zelda game has left fans confused about where the game fits in the overall series. Hiromasa Shikara, director for the game, describes it as “a little unusual” for a Zelda game, but puts it into perspective as to where the game fits in the overall franchise.

The new “Triforce” is very different from what fans of the series have always expected. The game has not kept itself restricted to the simple slashing of the boss at the end of every level. Rather, it has included a loot system, bringing more of the “Monster Hunt” vibe to the game, as stated by Shikata in an interview with GameSpot.

In 2013, 3DS Zelda game “A Link Between Worlds” came into existence. The storyline unfolded at a time after “A Link to the Past” but between the original “Legend of Zelda” and “Link’s Awakening.” However, Triforce has had a big abandonment over other Nintendo Games. The company decided to scrap out the game’s voice chat system.

The game's director stated that previous experiences with the franchise’s multiplayer, brought him to the decision of eliminating the voice chat aspect. In a typical multiplayer session, a veteran player would always dominate newer players thereby taking away the fun from the game. Instead of learning through mistakes and experience things within the game, they have to follow order from an experienced player. Also, “Tri Force” has a bigger multiplayer world than its predecessors and since the game allows multiplayer sessions with stranger, the voice chat system removal would better help in addressing the issue.

This has, however, been compensated with a communication icon. It consists of a series of texts that allows players to communicate with each other. The system is a bit complex than the previous one because players need to understand what is being communicated to them, as reported by ElectronicsFeed.

The game also has a light-hearted story compared to the other Zelda titles. The outfits have been made the main spotlight with an inclination towards fashion. Also, unlike in the other games, Ganon doesn’t appear in the game, as stated by Eiji Anouma, producer of the Zelda series.

“The Legend Of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes” was recently launched for the 3DS system. The game being more of a multiplayer title, requires at least three players to avoid solo playing.
