Tovino learns kicks and punches for his next
Tovino Thomas seems to have a penchant for playing villain roles.
After making his acting debut in a negative role in ABCD, the hunk will once again be the antagonist for his upcoming movie Style. As prep for his role in the action movie, which is directed by Ithihasa fame Binu S, the actor is busy perfecting his kicks and chops.
“I wake up early in the morning these days and hit the gym to practise kicks, punches and some defence techniques,” says Tovino.
“An actor should always know the basics of fight techniques. It makes you agile and also more confident about your body.”
Though he has acted as villain in ABCD and 7th Day, the actor says that his role in Style will be different. “It’s a special role because unlike my previous villain characters, I play a truly nefarious goon in it,” he says. Tovino explains his roles in earlier movies were “never inhuman”. “You could always justify their actions. But, Edgar is different; he is cruel, rude and serious,” he explains, adding he hopes the role will stand out in his career.
Tovino’s recent role as Perumparambil Appu in Ennu Ninte Moideen hit all the right notes and has opened up new avenues for him to explore. “I always dreamt of being part of experimental films, which have out-of-the-box themes. Because of my role in Moideen... such movies are coming to me,” he says.
