The tableau of the Department of Revenue was adjudged the best among the 23 tableaux that were part of the famed Jamboo Savari which took place in Mysuru on Friday.
The second prize went to the tableau of the Department of Information and Public Relations and the third to the Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation (CESC), Mysuru.
This year, the number of tableaux had been reduced since the event was restricted only to the locals. The tableau of the Revenue Department was a replica of the century-old heritage structure where the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Mysuru is located. The tableau portrayed ‘Kandaya Adalat’ and ‘Padasale’ scheme. Shubharamba is a scheme introduced for the first time in the State by the Mysuru district administration to promote simple marriages.
The tagline of CESC’s tableau was ‘Use solar energy and save energy. Promoting harnessing of solar energy using roof-top systems, the CESC laid emphasis on renewable energies (hybrid power generation) and the Niranthara Jyothi scheme in rural areas.
The Department of Information and Public Relations had put up a tableau on Mahatma Gandhi’s ‘Gram Swaraj’. With the tagline of ‘Gandhi Kanasu Karnatakadalli Nanasu’, the 21-point programme is being implemented by the State government for fulfilling the vision of gram swaraj such through steps like providing potable water to rural areas, installing toilets in every household and so on.
Tableaux on inclusive farming (Agriculture Department), Indra Dhanush mission (Health Department), conservation (Forest Department), Anubhava Mantapa (Kannada and Culture Department), ‘Mysuru, the cleanest city’ (Mysore City Corporation), and social justice (Mysuru Zilla Panchayat) were among those that drew attention. The State Bank of Mysore had its tableau themed on its loan schemes, while the University of Mysore’s was about its centenary fete.
