Jerry Seinfeld Definitely Enjoyed the Mets’ Game 2 Win
Despite the best efforts of Stephen Colbert and competitive eater Takeru Kobayashi, it appears the Chicago Cubs may still, in fact, be cursed.
While the Cubs entered the NLCS as favorites to punch their ticket to the World Series – we’re not sure if you’ve heard or not, but it’s been a while since they’ve been there – the New York Mets took a commanding 2-0 series lead with a 4-1 victory on Sunday night. Sure, there’s still ample time for the Cubbies to mount a comeback, especially with the series shifting to Wrigley Field for the next three games, but their bats have got to come alive, and they’ve got to figure out a way to get Daniel Murphy out.
If they can’t, not only will it mean another winter of discontent in the Windy City, but no ceremonial first pitch from Doc Brown.
Mets fans, on the other hand, are starting to get pretty excited about their team possibly returning to the World Series for the first time in 15 years. Prior to last night’s game, Mets loyalist Jimmy Kimmel threw out the first pitch while wearing Mike Piazza’s old number 31 – fitting, since Murphy’s blast in the first inning tied Big Mike for the most postseason homers in franchise history. Then, following Yoenis Cespedes’ infield single that gave the Mets their fourth and final run of the night, superfan Jerry Seinfeld was spotted cheering on his sandwich-loving pal like the diehard fan he is.

If the Cubs can somehow stay alive, Game 6 of the NLCS will take place at Citi Field next Saturday. We’re willing to bet Jerry will be there, and he probably won’t bring Elaine – we know what happens whenever she shows up at the ballpark.
