Anupam Roy who made waves in Bollywood recently with Piku, will be seen in an important role in Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee's Prakton (Former). The film starring Prosenjit Chatterjee and Rituparna Sengupta in the lead, will also feature three other musicians -Surojit Chatterjee, Upal Sengupta and Anindya Chattopadhyay .
Anupam, who is all nerves about his tryst with the big screen, says, I had made a guest appearance in Jaatishwar, but thankfully, had no dialogues there.
Also, I must have refused at least 10 meaty roles so far. This time around, Shibuda (Shiboprosad) was persistent to the point of being annoying. I had to give in. But I'm extremely worried. I have requested him to keep it as short as possible.
The composer is depending heavily on his friends, Upal and Anindya, to pull off the part. We indulge in long addas in between work and crack up without a reason. I'll try to think there is no camera, so that the camaraderie reflects on screen. I don't think I'd like to act ever again, he says.
All the four musicians will play themselves in the movie which is as much about the lives of two protagonists as about a train journey they embark on. Surojit, who too will be debuting as an actor in this movie, had earlier worked with the director duo in Icche and Muktodhara, apart from a handful of TV projects. I'm waiting for the script narration. The directors had also asked me to share a few anecdotes from the innumerable journeys I have undertaken with my bandmates, he says. Anindya, who is no alien to acting, had played major roles in Rituparno Ghosh's Shubho Mahurat and Satyanweshi, while Upal essayed an important part in Orko Sinha's Aamar Aami. About getting them on board, Shiboprosad says, This is our most lyrical film till date.Music plays an important part and we thought the real chemistry between musicians can add a lot to the film." Anupam and Anindya are also composers in the film. While Anindya is ahead of his counterpart in terms of acting, it remains to be seen how Anupam fares in this film.
