KAMPALA. Uganda coach Micho Sredojevic will demand an improved performance when they face another local side, SC Villa, in a warm-up game tomorrow if they are to confront Sudan on Saturday with any positivity.
Goals by Tonny Odur and Eric Ssebuguzi on 17 and 55 minutes respectively condemned the Cranes to a 2-0 defeat to Express at Wankulukuku yesterday as Uganda continue preparations for the Africa Nations Championship (Chan) first leg qualifier against the Falcons of Sudan. One hour was played in each half.

Fufa hastily arranged these build-up matches after failing to secure an international engagement during this Fifa break in which just about every other African country was busy. Among areas of concern for Micho – most were - was the right back, where veteran Vincent Kayizzi gave Dennis Okot quite an evening.
One of those Kayizzi moments produced a right footed cross from the left, which found the comfort of Odur’s chest.

The Express striker, holding off defender Timothy Awany, slotted home past Ismail Watenga in the Cranes goal for the lead. Ssebuguzi headed in the second from Mike Mutyaba corner. The team that conceded included Watenga/ Mathias Kigonya, Okot, Henry Katongole, Isaac Muleme, Bernard Muwanga, Awany, Peter Katumba, Hakim Ssenkumba, Keziron Kizito, Frank Kalanda and Arthur Semazzi. “I’m not worried by the result,” said Micho, “We lost to Kira Young (2-0) before going for Chan (SA) and to URA (4-0) before beating Mauritania.”

Goalkeeper James Alitho, Ibrahim Kiyemba, Joseph Ochaya, Hassan ‘Dazo’ Wasswa, Shafik Bakaki, Deus Bukenya, Ivan Ntege, Erisa Ssekisambu, Muzamir Mutyaba, Farouk Miya and Caesar Okhuti played the other half for Cranes but the Red Eagles stood tall.
