Charges pressed against 3 for torturing schoolboy
Police submitted charge sheet against three people in a case for torturing a schoolboy in the district yesterday.
The charge sheeted accused are Khalilur Rahman, 60, Belal Hossian, 50, and Shamim Sarkar alias Minar, 30, of Manik Potal village in Dhunat upazila.
Sub-Inspector of Dhunat Police Station Rafiqul Islam, investigation officer of the case, placed the charge sheet against the trio in a Bogra court in the afternoon.
The charge sheet, however, recommended acquittal of two other accused--Al Amin, 22, son of Nayeb Ali, and Mizanur Rahman, 25, son of Shajahan Ali of Manikpotal village in the upazila, said police.
The victim is Rabbi Mia, 8, son of Lal Mia of Manikpotal village of Nandigram upazila, and a Class III student of Morichtola Government Primary School.
On September 11, Lal Mia filed the case with the police station against five people.
According to the case statement, Rabbi had to cross the house of one Korban Ali of Manikpotal village on way to the school. At that time, neighbour Khalilur Rahman informed Korban that the boy entered his house for stealing.
Later, Rabbi was tied to a tree and brutally tortured. Being informed, police rescued the victim from the spot and sent him to the upazila health complex.
