Watch the Band Perry Bring Colorful ‘Live Forever’ to ‘Ellen’
With their 2015 tour coming to a close at the end of the month, the Band Perry are wrapping up the year with a handful of high-profile appearances. First up: a performance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, where the siblings tackled their newest single, “Live Forever,” yesterday afternoon.
Co-produced by RedOne, “Live Forever” pushes the Band Perry into the world of modern pop, replacing the rootsy tangle of accordion, mandolin and fiddle that filled songs like “If I Die Young” with digital drums and gang vocals. The Perrys kept things appropriately pop-heavy during the Ellen performance, giving their touring band a break and, instead, performing with a DJ in front of a neon yellow projection screen. Watch the performance — which includes everything from brotherly choreography to confetti cannons — above.
Released toward the end of a busy year that found the charismatic Band Perry collaborating with Pharrell and working an exhilarating performance of the Bruno Mars-Mark Ronson hit “Uptown Funk” into their set, “Live Forever” provides further proof that the trio is looking far wider than country music. The group has yet to announce an official release date or title, but the new album — the long-awaited follow-up to 2013’s Pioneer — is expected to arrive sometime next year.
The Band Perry will perform at the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta tomorrow (October 10th) and has already been tapped as one of the key acts for next spring’s Stagecoach Music Festival in Indio, California.
