AIFW 2016: Nida Mahmood pays homage to her cat!

Designer Nida Mahmood says she found muse in Bombay (now Mumbai) in the 1960s and the city's free-spirited damsels for her collection titled 'Junglee Billee', but it's also a dedication to her cat Mr Toffee Tinkerbell.
"My very own #jungleebillee is very excited for the show this time," Nida had posted on Facebook along with images of her pet a few days before the show on Friday.
She even wanted to bring her pet to her show on the third day of Amazon India Fashion Week Spring-Summer 2016, but the bright lights and loud sound made her change her mind. "I didn't want to be selfish," she said.
Cat or no cat, she did grab eyeballs of many when she showcased her collection that mostly consisted of dresses, pants with tops and saris with tights made of fabrics like crêpes, satin and net in colours such as blue, orange and green.
The music and cat eye eyewear frames matched with the theme of the collection that was mostly sporty, easy and relaxed.
Known for putting up dramatic shows at fashion weeks, this season she made a "conscious decision not to make it over the top".
"I wanted to play with simple things. The drama was in the music. We recorded Bollywood films' dialogues and converted them into cat situation," she said after the show referring to dialogues like "In kutto ke samne mat nachna" (don't dance in front of these dogs) from iconic film "Sholay".
Nida believes that no matter how fiesty a woman is, she is gentle and she showed this side of women through the usage of floral prints on her creations that went well with the adidas Originals sneakers.
The accessories were unusual. Instead of a bag or clutch, the models held cameras or perfumes or radio as they hit the runway wearing Nida's creations.
