Pansare murder: Court says no to brainmapping test on Gaikwad

The court ordered the test not be conducted, and extended his magisterial custody till October 23.

A Kolhapur court has denied permission for a brainmapping test on Sameer Gaikwad of the Sanatan Sanstha arrested in connection with the murder of veteran communist leader and rationalist Govind Pansare.

The police application submitted in the court on September 28 sought permission to conduct a brainmapping test on Gaikwad, but his lawyers told the court he would not consent to it. Gaikwad was Friday produced before the court, as his magisterial custody had ended.

He told the court  he was not in the right mental state for brainmapping . The court then ordered the test not be conducted, and extended his magisterial custody till October 23.

Police said they wanted to investigate whether Rudra Patil, a Sanatan Sanstha worker wanted in connection with the Goa blast of October 2009, had links with the Pansare murder. Investigators were hoping to get clues about the murder from the brainmapping.
