Rangers outlast Blue Jays in thrilling 14-inning battle

It took a really long time for the Texas Rangers to beat the Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday, but it was worth it.

All the way at the top of the 14th inning, the Rangers pulled ahead (after being tied, 4-4, since the eighth inning) when shortstop Hanser Alberto drove in second baseman Rougned Odor. 5-4, Texas.

Then, to seal the deal, catcher Chris Gimenez scored off a Delino DeShields Jr. single.

And that was it. The Blue Jays couldn’t retaliate in the bottom of the 14th. Definitely a cause for celebration for the Rangers, even though Prince Fielder had a bit of a tough time getting on the field to participate in the celebration.

The Rangers now lead the American League Division Series, 2-0.
