Voxbone’s (News - Alert) long code mobile DID numbers are now available in the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Spain, Belgium and Sweden. At the beginning of this year, the company announced the availability of national and international outbound SMS capabilities for its mobile direct inward dial (DID) numbers.
At the end of September Voxbone announced that it will now have one-stop support for its DID SMS capabilities. The new service is designed to simplify the process by replacing the multi-step, multi-contract process for Voxbone's carrier and enterprise customers.
What makes this exciting for customers is they will now be able to take advantage of local rates, regardless of which foreign market they call or text to. By taking advantage of IP networks' ability to converge voice and data, Voxbone is eliminating the need to go through third-party SMS providers, also eliminating the need for additional contracts.
According to Voxbone’s Rodrigue Ullens (News - Alert), "On traditional mobile networks voice and text messaging use completely different systems, requiring different switching equipment and different technical teams. In our IP network, voice and text become two features of the same number, configured once. Making it as easy as possible to add features supports our ongoing goal of helping customers get optimal use and/or revenue from their number assets."
Companies around the world, such as Voxbone and Vitcom realize that today their customers want simple solutions to their communication needs. Vitcom is a Brooklyn, N.Y.-based company that offers traditional voice and data services combined with next generation technologies to offer customers a one network, one technology, one communication service.
By utilizing Vitcom for their communications services, customers have been able to reduce costs, increase employee productivity and streamline their communications services. This is accomplished by combining all their services onto one easy to read and understand invoice, which is the simplicity sought out by customers around the world.
As telecommunication technology continues to change and evolve and more unified communication (UC) services become available, we should see a decline in person-to-person texting. However, the expectation is that this will be partially compensated by the integration of SMS in enterprise over the top (OTT) communications and applications. This is where we will see the importance of what companies like Voxbone and Vitcom are offering.
