Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the IT, Technology and Metals sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the S&P CNX Nifty gained 0.74% to hit a new 1-month high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.87%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P CNX Nifty were Vedanta Ltd (NSE:VDAN), which rose 11.52% or 10.70 points to trade at 103.60 at the close. Meanwhile, TATA STEEL LIMITED (NSE:TISC) added 4.28% or 10.30 points to end at 251.10 and Tata Motors Ltd . (NSE:TAMO) was up 3.85% or 13.20 points to 356.45 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Coal India Limited (NSE:COAL), which fell 2.99% or 10.35 points to trade at 335.85 at the close. Asian Paints Ltd. (NSE:ASPN) declined 2.33% or 20.35 points to end at 853.80 and IDFC LIMITED (NSE:IDFC) was down 2.16% or 1.35 points to 61.20.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Vedanta Ltd (BO:VDAN) which rose 11.58% to 103.60, TATA STEEL LIMITED (BO:TISC) which was up 4.26% to settle at 250.75 and Tata Motors Ltd. (BO:TAMO) which gained 3.81% to close at 355.90.
The worst performers were Coal India Limited (BO:COAL) which was down 3.05% to 335.65 in late trade, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which lost 1.87% to settle at 4272.80 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was down 1.00% to 906.35 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 749 to 684 and 9 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 392 fell and 368 advanced, while 2 ended unchanged.
The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of S&P CNX Nifty options, was down 3.26% to 18.9250.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.98% or 11.20 to $1155.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 2.85% or 1.41 to hit $50.84 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.83% or 0.97 to trade at $54.02 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.07% to 64.770, while EUR/INR rose 0.57% to 73.5240.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.52% at 94.90.
