Matt Hasselbeck gives emotional postgame interview after win over Texans

Things looked bleak for the Indianapolis Colts after a “sore shoulder” sidelined their crown jewel Andrew Luck. They resigned backup quarterback Josh Johnson (whom they’d just cut from the team) and toyed with the idea of starting him, but eventually decided to go with 40-year-old Matt Hasselbeck, who was still recovering from a virus that landed him in the emergency room just two days ago.

In fact, he was so sick that Andrew Luck had to speak for him in team meetings the night before their Thursday game against the Houston Texans.

Hasselbeck rallied, and threw for 213 yards and two touchdowns, leading the Colts to a 27-20 win. The veteran’s face read relief as he teared up in a postgame interview, completely unconcerned about whoever it was they were supposed to be playing in Week 6 (The New England Patriots).

UPDATE: Hasselbeck dedicated the game ball to Michelle Bair, a woman who lost her battle with cancer on Thursday.
