OnePlus is gearing up to unveil a budget smartphone

Not so long ago, OnePlus confirmed that it would launch a second device by the end of 2015. We’ve been hearing quite a lot of whispers regarding it and the rumor mill dubbed it either the OnePlus X or the OnePlus Mini.

It appears that the OnePlus X name has been all but confirmed by the company’s own CEO Liu Zuohu, who posted a new teaser on his Weibo page last night (as seen at Gizmo China). As you can see below, the image he added shows a big X, so there’s very good reason to believe that the phone will launch as the OnePlus X.

Some rumors also indicated that the phone would launch in October, and considering that yesterday we told you that the company scheduled a press event for October 12 in India in order to announce the “Next Big Step,” we might as well speculate that the OnePlus X will arrive on the above mentioned date.

Snapdragon or Helio, what's it going to be?

It has proved a little complicated for the rumor mill to agree on the actual set of specs the OnePlus X is going to bring forth. The most recent hearsay claims the device will arrive with a 5-inch display with 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution and a MediaTek Helio X10 processor clocked at 2.2GHz.

OnePlus should also throw in 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage with the possibility of expanding via microSDXC card slot. In the photography department, the phone will feature a 13MP rear shooter from Sony with f/2.0 aperture and 5MP selfie camera.

However, we also heard that the OnePlus X might come packing a Snapdragon 801 under the hood. And at this point, we don’t know which rumor to believe.

Anyway, we’ve also heard that the OnePlus X would bring back the NFC feature the OnePlus 2 lost. On top of that, the phone will support Quick Charge via USB Type-C port and will be kept alive by a 3,000 mAh or 3,100 mAh battery.

The rumored price of the device is said to be of around $250 / €223, but we will only be 100% certain that this is the case once OnePlus announces the handset.
