Daryl Murphy is the man chosen by Martin O'Neill to replace Robbie Keane in the Ireland line-up to face Germany in tonight's crucial Euro 2016 qualifier.

Keane was late joining up with the squad after his wife gave birth to their second child, and the Ireland captain will start on the bench.

With Seamus Coleman on the sidelines with a hamstring injury, Burnley defender Stephen Ward comes into the side in his place.

Stephen Ward has only played one game for Burnley this season, the 1-0 League Cup defeat to Port Vale

Ireland are without Glen Whelan and James McClean due to suspension, but fans will be boosted by the selection of Wes Hoolahan, who had been a slight doubt during the week.

Germany have named a very strong side for tonight's game, with an attacking trio of Mesut Ozil, Marco Reus and Mario Gotze playing behind Thomas Muller.

Ireland team to play Germany: Shay Given; Cyrus Christie, Richard Keogh, John O Shea, Stephen Ward; Robbie Brady, James  McCarthy, Jeff Hendrick, Wes Hoolahan, Jonathan Walters, Daryl Murphy.

Germany team to play Ireland: Manuel Neuer; Mathias Ginter, Jermome Boateng, Mats Hummels, Hector; Mesut Özil,  Toni Kroos,  Ilkay Gündogan, Marco Reus; Mario Götze, Thomas Müller.
