Couple commit suicide

Two lovers, who consumed poison after their families refused to grant them permission to get married, died here on Thursday.

Soniya,19, a resident of Mariyappanapalya and Bharath, 20, a resident of Andharahalli in Peenya second stage, consumed poison on a pavement near Raghavendra Swamy Mutt on Rajkumar Road in Rajajinagar police limits on October 6. They were rushed to a private hospital, but their condition deteriorated.  In the early hours of  Thursday, they died. Soniya was a diploma holder and Bharath was unemployed.

Earlier, Bharath and his family were residing in Mariyappanapalya and knew Soniya’s family.

They got into a relationship and asked their parents to get them married. But their parents did not agree as Bharath was unemployed.

Techie ends life
A techie committed suicide by hanging herself  in Jayanagar police station limits on Thursday.

 D K Arpitha, 26, a native of Maddur, working in a private firm in Bommanahalli and was staying at a rented house in Jayanagar 6th Block with her brother Yogesh, police said.

Yogesh and Arpitha had planned to go to their native place on Wednesday. Yogesh called her  at around 11.30 am and asked if she was ready to leave for Maddur. She told him to come home in the afternoon. Yogesh returned home around 12.30 pm and found the hanging body of his sister, the police added.

Yogesh told the police that she was in love with a man employed at a private firm in Maddur. But her parents had opposed the alliance. No death note was found
