Highlighting once again the significant interest of  international market players in Chilean TV fiction, Comarex, the Mexico City-based global distrib, has signed a strategic, exclusive distribution deal with Chilean network Canal 13 to handle broadcaster’s finished TV series and formats worldwide.

Inked with Canal 13’s international sales subsid, Canal 13 Sudmedia, the pact gives Comarex distribution rights to hit shows, including “Machos,” “Papi Ricky,” “Witches,” “Primera Dama,” “The Vega’s,” “The 80s” and “Neighborhood Kings,” plus upcoming releases, such as teleseries “Veinteañero a los 40,” which is scheduled to launch on Canal 13’s 20 p.m. TV primetime slot.

“This is a highly important alliance for us because we are linking to one of the biggest distributors of Latin American TV content around the world,” Marina Del Canto, VP of International Sales at Canal 13 Sudmedia, told Variety.

“The deal will allow us to increase the presence of our TV fiction productions in territories such as Asia or Europe,” she added.

On Comarex’s side, the agreement will strengthen its international TV fiction offer, especially in the Asian market, where, reportedly, the Mexican distributor is looking to grow its partnerships and presence.

Controlled by Chile’s Luksic Group, Canal 13 benefits from a strong demand for Chilean TV fiction programming and formats abroad.

“Chilean TV fiction boast some very specific characteristics that make it interesting for TV audiences,” Del Canto said.

“It doesn’t necessarily follow traditional telenovela narrative and, in this sense, we are innovating quite lot, which can be quite attractive.”

Comarex, an exclusive sales agent for key international producers, including Mexico’s TV Azteca, distributes more than 42,000 hours per year in more than 110 countries.

In parallel, at Mipcom the Mexican distrib has extended to Asia and Africa its strategic distribution alliance with Italian TV giant Mediaset, whose programming portfolio Comarex already handled for Latin America.
