The Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA) has alerted the financial services community and the public about a fraudulent scheme using a false tax receipt claimed to be issued by the ‘Financial Services Authority (Dubai Regional Office).’

The perpetrators of the scam claim that they need to pay $150,000 to the Government of Dubai to prevent a road project in Dubai from being stopped; request consumers to contribute to this amount by transferring funds to a bank account in Dubai; and send to consumers a falsified tax receipt issued by the ‘Financial Services Authority (Dubai Regional Office)’, Unit 305, Al Barsha Business Centre, Al Barsha, Dubai, UAE.

The DFSA warned that its name is the ‘Dubai Financial Services Authority", and uses this name in full in all official communications. The DFSA never refers to itself as the ‘Financial Service Authority’; there is no organisation in the UAE known as the ‘Financial Services Authority’; the DFSA does not have ‘regional offices’; the DFSA does not have any offices located at Unit 305, Al Barsha Business Centre, Al Barsha, Dubai, UAE.

The only offices of the DFSA are located at Level 13 The Gate Building DIFC, Dubai, and it does not get involve in road construction projects; and the authority does not impose taxes or issue tax receipts.

The DFSA strongly advises that people do not respond to any communications regarding this scam, and under no circumstances should you send any money to the perpetrators of the scam.
