Here's why Singh is Bliing director Prabhudheva should make MORE Hindi films than South films!

The actor-director's Hindi hits surpass his South gems and so, this guy is here for the long haul. Let's tell you how...

Singh is Bliing is going great guns at the box office with the kind of numbers it is pulling in. It won't be too long for the film to reach the Rs 100 crore mark as it has already made more than Rs 68 crore in last five days. This proved that the jodi of Prabhudheva and Akshay Kumar can spell magic which gives a sound outcome everytime. Rowdy Rathore earned more than Rs 100 crore and SIB might reach that mark in its second weekend. Prabhudheva's outings both down South and in Bollywood have been a mixed bag. He has seen ups and downs in both but we thought of finding out which worked more for him. Turns out it is Bollywood that's given him more success than South. Here's how we deduced it. HINDI HUMDRUM

For someone, who made a name for himself as a remake specialist, Prabhudheva's first outing in Bollywood couldn't have been an original one. Interestingly, he chose his own film for his debut here. So Vijay's Pokkiri became Salman Khan's Wanted and rest is history. It was 2009 then and Salman is still reaping the benefits of his blockbuster second chance!

Film: Rowdy Rathore

Box office: Blockbuster

Prabhudheva then moved on to the Khiladi of Bollywood Akshay Kumar and came up with Rowdy Rathore. Again, it was a remake and this time a Telugu film titled Vikramarkudu. It turned out to be a great bet as it became a 100 crore earning film for Prabhudheva.

Film: Ramaiya Vastavaiya

Box office: Flop

Once again Prabhudheva looked for inspiration in his own filmography and figured that his debut Telugu film Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana still has the potential to be loved and raved. So we got Ramaiya Vastavaiya which unfortunately couldn't repeat the success of the director's Telugu film.

Film: R...Rajkumar

Box office verdict: Above average

Prabhudheva selected an unlikely hero for his brand of maar dhaar pyaar and gaana bajana. Shahid Kapoor was not the kind of hero he has worked in his films and so, the film looked very different. At the box office, the film did a decent business.

Film: Action Jackson

Box office verdict: Flop

Till today nobody knows why a film like Action Jackson was made and why Ajay Devgn of all people decided to be part of it. Prabhudheva had put all his elements in the film and even made Ajay move to the beats of songs but tried what he may, the film tanked badly!

Film: Singh Is Bliing

Box office verdict: Akshay Kumar's biggest opener ever!

Prabhudheva thus went back to his favourite Akshay Kumar and gave another success in the form of Singh Is Bliing. The film is still running and that too successfully at the theatres!

As an actor too, Prabhudheva has delivered two hits in the form of ABCD and ABCD 2. His dance and simple performances have made many a fan of his acting.

SOUTH SOJOURN

Film: Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana (2005)

Language: Telugu

B.O. Verdict: Second highest grosser of 2005 in Tollywood

The simple love story of a rich boy poor girl played by Sidharth Narayan and Trisha got good reviews and warm reception. It earned heavily at the box office turning Prabhudheva's debut in Telugu film into a blockbuster. The film also won 8 Filmfare awards and 5 Nandi Awards. Apparently, due to heavy public demand, a few more prints had to be released. It had opened with 90 prints only in 2005. The film approximately earned nearly 15 crore at the box office!

Film: Pournami (2006)

Language: Telugu

B.O. Verdict: Commercial failure

Prabhudheva couldn't be second time lucky as his next Telugu venture starring Baahubali star Prabhas and Trisha bombed at the box office. It was a remake of a Brazilian film Behind the Sun. Perhaps the fact that it's a story about dance might have interested the director to take the plunge here but sadly it couldn't interest the audience.

Film: Pokkiri (2007)

Language: Tamil

BO. Verdict: Blockbuster

Guess a hit and a failure in Telugu films made Prabhudheva shift his attention towards yet another South Indian language Tamil. He got Vijay to play the lead in Pokkiri, a gangster-thriller film and the box office erupted. It was a massive hit. But again as is obvious with him, it was also the remake of Puri Jagannadh's Telugu film by the same name starring Mahesh Babu.

Film: Shankardada Zindabad

Language: Telugu

B.O Verdict: Average

Prabhudheva went back to Telugu films with the formula of a hit film in his hands. Lage Raho Munnabhai was a big hit in Bollywood. The director might have wanted to turn into Rajkumar Hirani of South too but this spin off managed only average collection.

Film: Villu

Language: Tamil

B.O. Verdict: Flop

Prabhudheva might have wanted to recreate the magic of Pokkiri with Vijay but failed miserably. It was also a remake and this time Prabhudheva looked for Bollywood inspiration. It was a remake of Bobby Deol-Preity Zinta starrer Soldier.

Film: Engeyum Kadhal

Language: Tamil

B.O. verdict: Average

Prabhudheva moves from action-thriller to a romantic film where a man who doesn't believe in love falls for a girl who is all for love. It's a no brainer love story but it failed to make people fall in love with it. Resultant? It got an average reception at the box office.

Film: Vedi

Language: Tamil

B.O.Verdict: Commercial success

A remake of a Telugu film titled Souryam, Prabhudheva's Vedi had Vishal and Sameera Reddy in the lead. Although the film got mixed reviews from the critics, the content whetted audience's appetite just right and became a big success.

So if you look at his films, Prabhudheva seemed to have done much better job with his Hindi films than his South Indian adventures. He has three hits down South and four here! No wonder the director is so interested to continue his innings here with more such dhamakedar films!
